Vacant Space is a surrealist interactive webcomic created by me, Dummus. It began as a text based  adventure game joke between myself and a couple of friends, and while the format did not and most likely will not outgrow its inspirations, (which I will touch on later) the comic itself became a serious passion project for me, with a story I wanted to tell and a world I wanted to flesh out. A lot more effort started going to the project, with higher quality art being created for each panel and even some original music being composed by me on FL Studio.

Then, as a lot of my past projects tended to do, the comic went on a nearly year-long hiatus after about a month of casually working on it, with no hope of continuation whatsoever. Though progress on Vacant Space ceased for about a year, thoughts about the worlds I had created still bounced around in my head from time to time, being doodled on many a notebook during VERY IMPORTANT lectures that I probably should have been paying better attention to. That leads us to where we are today, with Vacant Space back in progress on this website, rather than being posted over Discord chats.

Vacant Space follows a charmingly pretentious 13 year-old boy named Michael Tuffin and his friends, as they participate in various antics around their living spaces, and possibly end the entire universe in the process. The comic uses a command based structure to move the story along, inspired by early Homestuck and other works by Andrew Hussie. It was originally hosted on the original Vacant Space discord server, now dubbed the "Vacant Space Beta," which is no longer available, before it was moved to a new server and released to the public eye soon afterwards. It is now being hosted on this website, and the site provides for a lot more creative flexibility than was previously available over Discord.

That is all I have to say on Vacant Space for the time being, so I hope you enjoy what I have written!
